I’m happy to announce the publication of “Joy Beyond The Surmount” in re•mediate lit mag’s inaugural issue, August 3rd. 2024. Calling itself a “critical literary magazine of computer-assisted writing,” the magazine stands out by requiring that all writing submissions be created using computer assistance, admirably going against the grain of most every other journal in existence, most of whom ask you to certify, unverifiably, some say meaninglessly, that your work isn’t created using AI.
“Joy Beyond The Surmount” was written in collaboration with Joe Imwalle, and distanced further from our agency through machine intelligence. The accompanying process note reads,
(Joe and I) were experimenting with a simple collaborative form in which we took turns writing lines. Sometimes our collaboration felt unsuccessful or stuck, and we turned to AI to remix them, in this case instructing the computer to “re-write the poem using synonyms.”
Many thanks and huge mega shout outs to re•mediate lit mag founding editor P.D. Edgar.
